Start playing

1. Create an account to claim your name. You can also skip this: logging in with a new name in game creates the account right there.
2. Download the launcher and open it. It fetches the latest client for you.
3. Log in with your name and password. Remember the password: there's no email recovery.
4. Talk to the Starter Guide to pick your XP rate and, if you want one, an Iron Man mode. You can only choose Iron Man at this point.

XP rates

• Easy: 100x combat and 30x skilling experience.
• Regular: 60x combat and 15x skilling experience.
• Hard: 5x experience, and a 10% better chance at drops.

You can switch to an easier rate later, but never back to a harder one.

Rules

• No bots, macros or auto-clickers.
• No buying or selling accounts, items or gold for real money.
• No harassment, hate speech or threats.
• If you find a bug that gives you an advantage, report it instead of using it.
• Don't pretend to be a member of staff.

Staff can mute or ban accounts that break these rules.

Questions

Is this the real Old School RuneScape?

No. It's a fan-run private server with its own accounts. Your Jagex account won't work here, and nothing here touches it.

Does it cost anything?

No. There's no store and nothing to buy.

Why haven't my hiscores changed?

Hiscores update when you log out.

I forgot my password

There's no email recovery. Contact a member of staff and tell them your username.
